Let's Be Blunt: Social Media Is Fake AF

Social media can be a great way to stay connected with friends and influencers, and to learn about new things. But it's important to remember that social media isn't always real.

We all know that people only post the best of their lives on social media. But sometimes, it's easy to get caught up in the comparison trap and start to feel like our own lives aren't good enough.

In this blog post, we're going to talk about the negative impact of social media on mental health, and how we can set the tone for embracing realness on social media.

Different ways social media is fake:

The highlight reel vs. real life: Most people only post the best parts of their lives on social media. They don't post about their bad days, their struggles, or their failures. Remember that EVERYONE does experience this, they're just not showing it.

The pressure to curate and present an ideal self: We often feel pressured to create a perfect image of ourselves on social media. We may feel pressured to spend hours editing our photos and videos before posting them. This can be exhausting and can lead to low self-esteem and anxiety.

Filters and Facetune: Many people use filters and Facetune to alter their appearance on social media. This is creating unrealistic expectations of beauty standards for women.

Comparison trap to influencers: We often compare ourselves to influencers on social media. These influencers make it seem as though they have perfect bodies, perfect lives, and perfect relationships. This can make us feel inadequate and unhappy with ourselves. But, even the influencers have their own problems and are not showing them on socials.

How to get out of it:

Reclaim your time and energy: Social media can be addictive. It's important to set boundaries and take breaks from social media. Spend your time and energy doing things that you enjoy and that make you feel good.

Focus on your own growth: Instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on your own personal growth. Set goals for yourself and work towards achieving them.

Embrace authenticity as inspiration: Follow people on social media who are authentic and who inspire you. This will help you to embrace your own authenticity and to feel good about yourself.

Embracing authenticity in a digital age is hard, but it's necessary. When we're genuine and authentic, we're more likely to connect with others on a deeper level. We're also more likely to be happy and fulfilled.

So next time you're on social media, remember that what you're seeing isn't always real. Focus on your own journey and embrace your own unique energy.

P.S. Here are some tips for being more authentic on social media:

    1.     Be yourself! Don't try to be someone you're not.
    2.     Share your real life, both the good and the bad.
    3.     Be honest about your feelings and experiences.
    4.     Connect with others who are authentic and who inspire you.
    5.     Don't compare yourself to others. Focus on your own journey.
    6.     Set boundaries and time limits for social apps.

    Remember, you are enough.

    As Always,

    Be Confidently You

    XOXO
